Event FAQs

Q: Can I bring other alcohol?
A. No. Per Maryland law, no outside alcohol is allowed at the winery, this includes parking lots. Layton’s Chance wines and products are only available at events. Only guests over 21 years of age and older can consume alcohol. If wristbands are deemed necessary for use during your event to designate those who are 21 or over, guests must comply. You are welcome to bring soft drinks and non-alcoholic drinks, or Layton’s Chance can provide this for you through catering packages. And, we do check coolers!

Q. What does it cost to rent the room at Layton’s Chance?
A. The cost for renting the facility at Layton’s Chance varies by time and day. Laytons Chance – Event Information 2024.

Q. What does the rental fee include?
A. The rental fee includes tables, chairs, staffed bar, trash removal, and private use of the Vineyard View Room. Linens are available upon request for an additional fee. See available options here.

Q. How much seating is available?
A. The Vineyard View Room seats 72 people comfortably. If events are after hours, the building can be rented and will hold 100 people for cocktail style. Tables and chairs are available for 72 people.

Q. Does Layton’s Chance serve other alcohol or can we bring other alcohol for our party?

Q. How much time do we have to set up for our event?
A. The Event Room is rented by the hour. Access to the room is given from the time your rental time begins and clean-up must be completed before the end of the rental time. Additional time can be purchased if the room is available. When you arrive, tables, chairs, and linens used from Layton’s Chance will be in place and ready for use.

Q. Do I need to make a deposit?
A. A 50% deposit is required at time of booking. Room will not be held without making a deposit.

Q. Can I have my wedding at Layton’s Chance?
A. We currently do not hold weddings at Layton’s Chance. We are happy to host your showers, rehearsal dinners or bachelor/bachelorette parties.  

Q. What are the options for buying wine?
A. Wine can be purchased for your guests by the way of Open Bar – you will be charged by the empty bottles at the end of the event or you can choose Cash Bar where your guests would purchase their own wine. We also offer Sangria packages or curated wine packages. 

Q. Do you offer catering?
A. While we do not cater in-house, we have great relationships with numerous local caterers. You can also use any caterer of your choice or bring your own food for an event.

Q. How do I reserve a date for my party?

General FAQs

Q. Is it permitted to bring outside alcohol to the winery at any time?
A. No, bringing outside alcohol is prohibited by Maryland law. This includes public and private events as well as visiting the tasting room or picnic area.

Q. Our children and guests under 21 permitted at the winery?
A. Yes, we are a family-friendly winery, so we love for you to bring the whole family. We have a playground, yard games and a nature trail. Some events are geared more toward an over 21 crowd — if this is the case we will post that in the event description.

Q. How do we find you?
A. Google Map with link to our location, GPS Coordinates, and written/illustrated directions from the Bay Bridge and Salisbury & Ocean City can be found on our Visit Us page.

Q. Are you open on holidays?
A. We are open every day except, New Years Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas. Holiday Hours can be found here.

Q. What are your tasting options?
A. We offer wine flights of 5 self-selected wines with either a 1oz pour of each or a 2oz pour of each. We also have a VIP tasting option for $25 per person that includes a tasting of 8 wines for each guest, chocolate and charcuterie (minimum of 6 guests. 

Q. Do you allow dogs?
A. Dogs are allowed in the picnic area. We suggest having them on a leash if it is crowded or an event is going on. They are not permitted inside the tasting room.

Q. I would like to attend one of your outside events, can you tell me what I should bring?
A. If attending one of our outdoor events or festivals we suggest bringing a lawn chair or blanket, bug spray, and sunblock. Coolers with nonalcoholic drinks and food are permitted as well. (We do reserve the right to inspect coolers).

Q. Do you ever close due to weather or cancel events?
A. We normally have a back-up plan for bad weather. If we do need to cancel or postpone an event we will post on our Facebook page.

Q. Do you have an ATM?
A. No, we do accept most credit cards. If you are attending an event here that has vendors, you may want to bring cash.

Q. Do you offer food?
A. We do not have food facilities here. We do offer some light snacks as well as cheese plates. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch. When we have a large event we normally have a food truck.
